He remains active on the national and international level. He serves on the NAIC’s International Relations, Property & Casualty, and Financial Regulation committees and is vice chair of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). In 2024, he led successful negotiations that secured international recognition of the U.S. Aggregation Method, helping protect U.S. consumers and insurers under global capital standards. Commissioner Mais also co-chaired the NAIC’s Special Executive Committee on Race and Insurance, leading efforts to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in the insurance sector. He is a frequent speaker at insurance and policy events across the country and internationally. In Connecticut, he supports broader equity efforts, including the Governor’s Council on Women and Girls and cultural competency initiatives. Commissioner Mais is committed to protecting consumers, encouraging innovation, and ensuring insurance remains accessible and effective for all.
